Seasonal forecasts look very different from traditional short-range forecasts. These are the two main differences:

• seasonal forecasts cover the meteorological elements mean values for 3 months;
• seasonal forecasts are in terms of probability.

NIMH issues a synthesis of the seasonal forecasts from several leading world centres.

     Autumn (September-October-November): With mean seasonal temperature near or above normal and seasonal rainfal near or below normal. The autumn of 2024 is likely to be colder and drier than the autumn of 2023.

    Winter (December-January-February): With mean seasonal temperature near or above normal. All categories below, near, or above normal are equally likely. Nevertheless the winter of 2024-2025 is likely to be colder and wetter than the winter of 2023-2024.

The seasonal forecast is updated every month in the interval 27^-th-30^-th
